Final 2017 Sierra Snowpack Survey Conducted

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Water content in Sierra Nevada is at 190 percent of average for this time of year.

The Calif. Department of Water Resources says electronic measurements indicate that the statewide snowpack water content is a 196 percent of average.

Acting DWR Director Bill Croyle says California cities and farmers can expect good water supplies this summer, although conservation remains a necessity following 5 years of drought.

The snowpack accounts for about one-third of the state’s water supply.
