CA Kindergarten Vaccination Rates Rise

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The Calif. Department of Public Health says vaccination rates among kindergartners in the Golden State have reached their highest level in 16 years.

96 percent of those children have received the recommended immunizations, which the department hopes will further reduce the spread of preventable diseases.

Following a measles outbreak at Disneyland a few years ago, and a lengthy public debate, California now requires that all school children be vaccinated, unless it’s medically unwise.

Several efforts have been made to challenge mandatory vaccines, although they’ve gained little traction.
