FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Fresno Police continue to search for a homeless woman accused of stabbing three dogs near Chandler Airport on Sunday, April 9th.
Two of the dogs were only slightly wounded — but the third, a Queensland named Rosie was rushed to Veterinary Emergency Services for immediate surgery.
Neighbors witnessed a homeless woman who they thought was going to pet the dog, but actually stabbed her. The SPCA brought the female dog over VES, suffering from a deep stab wound into her abdomen.
Rosie underwent a nearly 2-hour surgery for her injuries, and despite blood loss and the extent of her wound, she appears to be making a swift recovery.
The new mom had just given birth to a litter of 4 puppies only four days prior to the attack.
“[We’re] hoping that she’ll get back to them to go back to being able to nurse them.” -Dr. K.C. Schreiber, Veterinarian, VES.
Despite the brutal attack, Dr. Schreiber says she remains a very sweet dog.
Dr Schreiber says to help Rosie’s family with the unexpected hospital bills, you can call 559-486-0520 to make a payment by phone or mail a check to 1639 N. Fresno Street, Fresno CA 93703 in care of “Rosie.”
