Clovis Unified Superintendent Janet Young Announces She’s Retiring

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) -After being a part of the District for almost four decades, Clovis Unified Superintendent Janet Young has announced she’s retiring after the end of her contract June 30th.

“Perhaps there is no perfect time, but I believe that this is the time when the district is thriving and strong. – Janet Young, Ed.D., Clovis Unified Superintendent.

Young, along with Governing Board President Susan Budd, made the announcement on Monday, April 10th, at the Clovis Unified School District Professional Development Building.

“I have been blessed to work alongside, I believe, the greatest educational team in the nation.” — Janet Young, Ed.D., Clovis Unified Superintendent.

Young says she is not planning to work, just spend time with her family.

Clovis Unified is actively searching for a replacement. Governing Board President Susan Budd says they are trying to have a permanent superintendent in place by the end of this school year to be ready for the 2017-2018 year.

“The Governing Board is looking forward to receive input from employees, parents, and community members to assist the board in finding the right candidate.” Susan Budd, Governing Board President.

Budd says they say they’ll limit their search to California, and not out of state.
