(KMJ) Fresno City Councilmember Garry Bredefeld is preparing for another fight. This time the battle lines will be drawn over four words.
The 6th District representative is proposing a resolution to have expression “In God We Trust” placed on the wall behind the dais in the council chamber.
Bredefeld made the announcement Friday on KMJ’s Ray Appleton Show. “In the decades to come everybody will recognize that there’s something here that’s larger than all of us”, the Councilman said.
But President of the Central Valley Alliance of Atheists and Skeptics, Mark Boyd, says the Council has a history of supporting one specific form of religion. “If this continues to be the case, we will have a problem, therefore the city council will have a problem,” Boyd told KMJ News.
The resolution is expected to be heard on may 11th.
