YOSEMITE, CA (KMJ) – A 20-year-old Ceres woman was killed by a falling tree at Half Dome Village inside Yosemite National Park on Sunday morning.
The National Park says Destiny Rose Texeira Borges was working for a concessioner service, contracted by the park, when she was struck and killed around 10am. The area was closed following the incident, but reopened to visitors this morning.
High winds and heavy snow in the park this weekend increased the risk of falling trees throughout Yosemite. As of Monday morning, Upper Pines and Camp 4 were closed because of the snow and winds.
