FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — A group of researchers at the University of Leicester in England say they’ve identified a key protein, tied to the narrowing of the airway, in people with a severe case of asthma.
The protein is HMGB1, and it appears to have a correlation with increased mucus production.
Experts believe this finding could offer drug markers a new target, especially for those not benefiting from existing asthma treatments.
