CA Lawmakers Petition Feds for Clarification on Immigration Policies

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Democratic California State Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de Leon and Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon have sent a Freedom of Information Act request, to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The pair say they want documents explaining policies pertaining to sensitive places, such as churches, hospitals, and schools, as well as access to legal counsel for those detained by ICE.

They believe the physical safety of thousands of Californians depends on such information, amid the controversy and fear over deportations.

Recent reports show that federal crackdowns on undocumented immigrants, are likely to hit California the hardest.
