FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — If your goal is to live longer, the old advice of “eat more fruits and vegetables,” really works.
According to new research published in the International Journal of Epidemiology, if everyone ate 8 servings of fruits and veggies that are rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, potassium, and fiber,7.8 million deaths could be prevented each year globally.
However, canned fruit has been linked with higher rates of premature death, as well as heart disease.
Some of the best life-lengthening foods are apples, pears, and citrus, in addition to green, leafy vegetables.
