The Importance of Balancing Emotions and Intelligence in the Workforce

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — When it comes to success in business, it appears your emotional quotient, or EQ, has nearly as big of an impact, as your IQ.

According to the OfficeTeam’s latest survey, 95 percent of HR managers, and 99 percent of workers, feel emotional intelligence is vital in the workplace, as it promotes better decision making and diplomacy.

65 percent believe EQ and IQ are equally important, while 21 percent say EQ is crucial.

The OfficeTeam says emotional intelligence extends beyond keeping your feelings in check, and requires properly gauging the words, nonverbal signals, and actions, of those with whom you work.
