IRS Issues Warning About New W-2 Scam

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The IRS has issued a warning about a new W-2 scam.

It’s called the W-2 e-mail phishing scam, and it’s extended beyond corporations, to smaller companies, non-profits, and public schools.

Successful crooks make off with sensitive information, and are able to additional criminal activities, including filing phony tax returns.

The Internal Revenue Service is urging employers to be extra caution, when it comes to W-2 distribution.
