FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A call on social media to strike against President Donald Trump on February 17th.
The strike showing up in events on Facebook – some say it may stem from an article January 30th in The Guardian.
The British paper writes that protests are often ignored, but recent airport protests were effective because while peaceful, they were disruptive with terminals closing at airports around the country, and incoming flights delayed.
Now, what’s called a General Strike is being urged on social media – a national day of action, when organizers write that they want to make their economic and political power felt, as no one shops or spends money or those who can – skip work.
Organizers have demands, among them; no ban, no wall, healthcare for all, no pipelines, and they are asking President Donald Trump to disclose his taxes.
So far, #GeneralStrike receiving over 100,000 shares on Facebook, 4000 listed as “going,” 10,000 are “interested.” While the event is being posted by different organizers on different pages, people are posting the event, and sharing it all over the world.
