Report: More Than 1 Billion Yahoo! Accounts Hacked

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The Sunnyvale-based company says it believes hackers have stolen data from more than 1 billion accounts.

The alleged breach is said have happened in August 2013, and is different from the one it revealed in September of this year, which affected 500 million accounts.

The stolen information includes names, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, and birth dates, but it doesn’t appear that bank account or credit card numbers were taken.

Questions are now being raised about whether Verizon will try to change the terms, of its proposed $4.8 billion acquisition of Yahoo!.
