FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A program through Fresno’s District One that’s building future leaders is launching.

The Young Council Member Program is bringing together young people throughout District One to be a part of a cohort developing leadership skills.

Fresno City Councilwoman Esmeralda Soria is overseeing the program with support from PG&E.

10 students from Central High School, Fresno High and Bullard High make up the 2017 class.

“The goal is to really build on their leadership skills and and hopefully develop an interest in public service.” – Esmeralda Soria, Fresno City Councilmember.

Participants will expand their understanding of community, agriculture, and technology among other topics.
