Study: Nuts Can Reduce Heart Disease, Cancer Risks

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Eating at least 20 grams of nuts per day, appears to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, by about 30 percent.

According to a new study in the journal BMC Medicine, nuts may also reduce the risk of cancer by 15 percent, and diabetes, by almost 40 percent.

Researchers say nuts are high in beneficial nutrients, such as fiber, good fats, and magnesium.

However, consuming more than 20 grams a day, does not appear to increase the health benefits.
