Fresno Co. Native, Murder Suspect Killed in OK Shootout

(CNN/AP) – Michael Dale Vance, Jr., the Oklahoma fugitive who authorities said shot two officers and killed two of his relatives last week, was killed in a shootout Sunday night, according to the FBI’s Terry Weber.

One officer was shot during the pursuit, according to Ellis County Sheriff Shane Booth. The officer’s condition is unknown at this time.

Vance, 38 of Chandler, Oklahoma, was born near Kingsburg and had a long list of arrests in the Central Valley.  He had been on the run since injuring the two officers in Wellston, OK during a shootout on October 23, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. Vance’s relatives were found dead later that night at an uncle’s home in Luther, just northeast of Oklahoma City, authorities said at the time.

Vance was suspected of shooting a woman and stealing her vehicle at a mobile home park near Wellston, then driving about 8 miles to his relatives’ mobile home in Luther and killing them, Opgrande has said.

Ronald Everett Wilkson, 55, had been shot and had stab wounds to his neck “consistent with an attempt to sever his head,” an arrest affidavit said. Valerie Kay Wilkson, 54, had similar neck wounds along with defensive wounds on her arms, the affidavit stated.

Authorities also believe Vance filmed two Facebook Live videos documenting his run from police before going to the Wilksons’ mobile home.
