Study: Stressed Workers with Minimal Control at Higher Risk for Premature Death

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — People in demanding careers, with minimal control over their workflow, face a 15 percent greater chance of dying prematurely.

That’s according to a newly-concluded study by Indiana University’s Kelly School of Business.

Overwhelmed employees are often heavier, and more susceptible to diseases.

But, it’s not necessarily the stressful job that means a higher chance of early death.

Researchers found that people in demanding jobs, who had a great degree of control, had a 34 percent lower chance of an untimely death.
