New CA Apartments Will be Required to Have Individual Water Meters

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Master water meters will soon become a thing of the past.

New apartments and condominiums in the Golden State will have to be equipped with their own meters, under a bill that’s been signed into law.

More than 15 million Californians currently live in units that are not billed for individual water use.

Proponents say the new law will encourage conservation.

It’ll take effect in 2018, but will not apply to existing structures.
