Moreno Guilty of Murder in DUI Death of Mother of 8

(KMJ)  53 year old Luis Moreno was found guilty Wednesday of 2nd degree murder for a deadly drunken collision.

A jury found Moreno guilty on all three felony counts – including 2nd degree murder for the collision that took place back in 2013.  Moreno drove drunk on Friant Road, his pick-up plowed head-on into a car carrying 54 year old Blia Vang – a mother of eight.   Moreno’s had numerous DUI convictions.

His own defense team admitted that Moreno had had 20 drinks that night and his blood alcohol level was 4-times above legal limits at .36.  He was tested two hours after the collision.

The prosecution told the jury that Moreno knew driving drunk was dangerous.  He had been told in AA and classes and he still drove under the influence.  The DA claimed that Moreno had a conscious disregard for life. The jury agreed.  Moreno is facing a possible term of life in prison when he’s sentenced in a few weeks.
