FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Citing a “new, unprecedented, and intensely complicated pressing legal matter unrelated to the superintendent and district staff,” Michael Hanson has put off the presentation of his self-evaluation to the Board of Education, previously scheduled for Wednesday evening.
Hanson tells KMJ News, “The topic was going to take all the time that we could possibly get in our closed session meeting. Candidly, my self-evaluation, and me presenting that, is the most-flexible of all the items in closed session.”
The change comes only two days after the controversy over an e-mail Hanson sent to staff, in which he asked, “Are your black and brown students finding early success?”
That was followed up with an apology.
Hanson continues to be blasted by the Fresno Teachers’ Association, who have called for him to be placed on administrative leave, during a supposed investigation into his actions.
Hanson contends, “The notion of a federal investigation is not real. They’ve had all of our information for darn-near a year’ we haven’t heard a thing back from them.”
He insists that’s the delay of his self-evaluation presentation, a decision which the FTA has praised, is unrelated to any of the recent controversies.
Note date has been, but Hanson says, “I will be back with my self-evaluation — proudly so.”
