Contentious Calif. Ag Overtime Bill Signed into Law

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Gov. Jerry Brown has placed his signature on AB 1066, which will make overtime pay for California farmworkers kick in at 40 hours a week, instead of 60.

Several ag groups and conservatives, argue that it’ll have lead to higher costs for growers.

However, supporters say it’s about equality.

The governor signed the measure without comment.

The law will be phased in over a number of years, depending on the size of a farm.
