Calif. Gets Low Rankings on Healthcare

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Despite being home to some of the most prominent hospitals and doctors in the world, California ranks below average, when examining several aspects of healthcare.

According to WalletHub, the state ranks 26th overall.

When it comes to the rate of physicians who accept Medicare, California ranks 48th.

Among other aspects for which the Golden State gets low ratings: the number of hospital beds per capita, the average monthly health premium, and the percentage of residents who have health insurance.

The WalletHub rankings come not long after the exit of major insurance companies from the state health exchange.

In addition, a recent report from UCLA shows up to 70 percent of healthcare costs in California, become a burden on taxpayers.
