(KMJ) The Labor Day holiday almost turned tragic for a Southern California family Saturday at Bass Lake.
Madera County authorities say a 10 year old boy slipped off the rocks at Angel Falls and fell 30 feet to the base of the waterfall.
He was knocked unconscious. Family members tended to the child while first responders arrived to the scene near Willow Creek.
CalFire, Madera Co. Search & Rescue, the US Forest Service and the CHP all worked together to hoist the boy to safety by helicopter. He was transported to Valley Children’s Hospital.
Madera Sheriff Varney says this is the second such rescue operation in the area in the past few weeks.
