TULARE, CA (KMJ) – Both protesters and supporters of Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump were in Tulare County, on Tuesday, August 30th as the candidate attended a private fundraiser.

Representative Nunes was hoping to raising over a million dollars for Trump’s campaign coffers before the day was done.

Inside, attendees of the $2700 dollar-a-plate luncheon listened to Trump speak of his support for the Valley’s Agricultural needs, and a more balanced water policy.

KMJ News spoke to Connie Conway, the Former California Majority Leader, who said his words were just what they needed to hear.

Outside, supporters strained to catch a glimpse of the candidate’s arrival, one women even brought a ladder to stand on for a better view.

PROTESTORS TRUMP

Protestors rallied peacefully, making up a handful of the more than two dozen people lining Cartmill Avenue.

Members of the Sequoia Mavericks, a non-partisan political group held signage that read” Shame on You,” and “Dump Trump.”

Trump brought along Former New York Mayor Rudy Guiliani to the event, and security was tight to protect the dignitaries.

The Secret Service worked with Tulare Sheriff Mike Beaudreux to ensure the safety of attendees.

45 members of both the Sheriff’s Department and the City of Tulare were brought in to work security detail, with taxpayers funding the bill.

No word from the Sheriff as to the cost of the day, but he said it’s not the first time a dignitary has come into town, and it’s standard to provide protection..
