FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The cost of building identical tunnels in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta can’t be economically justified.
That’s according to a new, independent report from the University of Pacific, which marks the latest criticism of the Governor Jerry Brown’s controversial proposal, to provide more water for the Central Valley and Southern California.
The DWR has estimated that it’ll cost $16 billion to dig the tunnels.
However, after accounting for interest on the money it’ll have to borrow, and operating costs, the price tag could shoot up to $68 billion.
