Researchers at the University of Washington analyzed divorce filings between 2001 and 2015.
They found a summer vacation and celebrating the holidays are the two times of year when couples are most likely to file for divorce.
There was a consistent peak in March, the period following Christmas, and again as couples filed for divorce in August, after the family vacation and before the kids start school.
They say it may be the anticipation of a new beginning, or something different.
