FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Legislation addressing the thousands of homeowners and tenants impacted by the severe shortage of water unanimously clearing the California State Senate.
The measure’s co-author, Hanford Republican Andy Vidak, says it would “authorize the State Water Resources Control Board to use funding appropriated from the Budget Act, to provide low-interest loans and grant programs for water wells, connections, and waste water improvement projects.”
Eligible participants must have a household income below the statewide median, be unable to obtain assistance from private lenders, and demonstrate that they can repay their loan.
