FRESNO (KMJ) — Police believe the wrong address could be a factor in an armed home invasion in Fresno Tuesday night.
The incident took place close to the intersection of Ashlan and Augusta, at around 11.45pm. Officers state that there were three people home: a 21 year old man, a 42 year old woman and another 19 year old woman.
“Three or four males came in”, explains Fresno Police Lieutenant Joe Gomez. “At least two of them had assault type rifles, had bandannas on their face”.
Lieutenant Gomez adds that the suspects then began repeatedly demanding to know ‘where’s the money’.
“One of the suspects hit the females with the butt of the assault rifle, and then while the 19 year old female is laying on the ground, one of those suspects shot twice and hit that victim – the 19 year old female – in the arm.
“The 42 year old female, she had some broken teeth and a cut lip, and the male victim had a laceration on his head”.
All three originally went to St. Agnes Medical Center, but the gunshot victim was later transferred to CRMC for surgery. They told investigators that they have no idea why they were targeted in this robbery.
“All the suspects took were two purses with minimal property in those purses”
But it hasn’t been ruled out that the suspects simply had the wrong address.
“They were looking for something else, clearly. So I’m not sure if we got all the information or it is a possibility that they got the wrong house”.
Officers report that the suspects got away in what’s been described as a white two-door 1990s Lexus, and Fresno PD are putting the description of the suspects out in the hope that someone can help the investigation.
“Dark clothing, bandannas on their face, three to four male suspects, and at least two had assault type rifles”.
Anyone with information is asked to call Valley Crime Stoppers on (888) 498-STOP.
