FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — PG&E, California’s largest utility, is charged with obstructing investigators, following a deadly pipeline explosion.
In 2010, the explosion of a natural gas line in San Bruno killed 8 people, and destroyed 38 homes.
Prosecutors say PG&E misled federal officials about how it was identifying high-risk pipelines.
The utility has pleaded not guilty, claiming its employees did not intentionally obstruct an investigation or violate pipeline safety laws.
If convicted, PG&E faces a $562 million fine.
