Fowler Mourns Longtime Teacher Killed In Crash

FRESNO (KMJ) – The Community of Fowler is mourning the loss of a long-time educator.

Fremont Elementary School teacher Linda Gutierrez died in an automobile accident on Monday afternoon.

It was around 5:00 p.m. when a truck forced her SUV into a wall on Highway 99 near Clovis Avenue.

CHP Spokesperson Axel Reyes says 34 year-old Felipe Vasquez Capote of Mexico, was driving the Freightliner truck, and could face a misdemeanor manslaughter charge.

Fowler School District Superintendent Eric Cedarquist says he is mourning the loss of a long-time colleague.

“I’ve been in this district 33 years, and I’ve known this teacher very well. I started as the principal at that school, and so she was a teacher… we worked together.” – Eric Cederquist. Fowler School District Superintendent.

The 3rd grade teacher (seen in a Facebook photo above) had taught children for 34 years in Fowler.

Grief counselors are on campus to help the school during this difficult time.
