FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — California State Treasurer John Chiang has tossed his hat into the ring for governor.

The democrat has opened a campaign account, joining Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom, who’s already raised more than $8 million.

Former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, former State Controller Steve Westly, Secretary of State Alex Padilla, as well as Tom Steyer are also expected to run in 2018, as is Kevin Faulconer, the Republican mayor of San Diego.
