Fresno Unified Approves City Of Fresno’s Green Spaces Agreement

FRESNO (KMJ) – Fresno residents will have access to more open green spaces thanks to an agreement approved by the Fresno Unified Board of Education on May 11th that forges a new partnership with the city of Fresno to open select school sites for weekend recreational activities.

“Fresno Unified is proud to partner and reach an agreement with the city of Fresno to address the need for clean, safe and accessible green space with organized and supervised activities.” -Michael Hanson, Fresno Unified superintendent.

Under the agreement, the following schools will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends and holidays: Addams, Yokomi, and Wilson elementary schools; Scandinavian, Terronez, and Wawona middle schools; and Bullard, Edison, Fresno, Hoover, McLane, Roosevelt, and Sunnyside high schools. In addition, either Vang Pao Elementary School or Sequoia Middle School will be open.

Site supervision/monitoring and programming will be provided by city Parks, After School, and Recreation and Community Service (PARCS) staff.
