VISALIA (KMJ) — Tulare County’s Peace Officers, who were killed in the line of duty, have been remembered by both the public and law enforcement personnel.

The crowd of well wishers stood alongside representatives from almost every law enforcement agency in the county. They congregated at the Peace Officers Memorial in Visalia Wednesday morning, to pay their respects to those who gave up their lives.

“Pays tribute to the local, state, and federal law enforcement officers, who serve and protect the citizens of this nation with courage and dedication”, announced Tulare County Supervisor Mike Ennis.

“On this day, people voice their appreciation for all those who currently serve on the front lines”.

“These men, whose names are etched here”, said District Attorney Tim Ward, “saw the very worst of what human beings are capable of.

“But when we look at their names, we will see the very best”.

Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux followed. He described the sacrifice of those who have fallen in the line of duty as representing the ongoing efforts of justice.

“Take a look at the officers here today who all stand in uniform in formation, and for those of you who are off duty and are here…it could be any one of us on this wall”.

It comes three months since the deaths of Deputy Scott Ballantyne and civilian pilot James Chavez, were both killed in the line of duty in a plane crash while inside the Tulare County Plane Sheriff One.
