FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — In addition to its obvious benefits, a new study finds friendship is more powerful than morphine.

Oxford University researchers say people with more friends, tend to have a higher tolerance for pain.

The used pain tolerance to assess the participants’ brain’s endorphin activity, and found that those with larger social networks, had a higher tolerance.

Another interesting finding: fit people and those with higher stress levels, often have fewer friends.
