CA Appeals Court Upholds Teacher Tenure, Job Protections

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — It’s a substantial victory for unions; a California appeals court has reversed a lower court ruling, which threw out tenure and other job protections, for the state’s public school teachers.

A 2014 ruling in the case held that several key job protections for teachers are so harmful, that they deprive students of their constitutional right to an education.

However, lawyers representing the state and teachers unions, argued that the decision should be reversed, and that the laws in question do not violate the rights of students.
