CLOVIS (KMJ) — An eagle statue taken from a Clovis home late last month, has been returned.
The stone depiction, which weighs around 400lbs, was taken from Korean war veteran Ken Jackson and his wife Audrey. It came back home Tuesday morning.
“I feel happy, and not too good because of the condition of the eagle. But we can fix it up so it looks decent”, says Ken. “We came more attached to it now than before. It went through a battle. The condition its in…don’t look too good right now, but we’ll make it better.
“I’m happy it’s home”.
“I hope they can live with themselves”, says Audrey Jackson. “What made them think they had the right to come in and destroy what this eagle stands for?
“This stands for our country, our military our freedom. It just stands for life”.
No charges will be brought about after the stone bird’s recovery, as there isn’t enough evidence to implicate anyone in the theft.
Deputies say they received a call from Fresno Police on April 9th, stating that a man contacted them wanting to return the stolen statue. He told Deputies that a friend of his bought it off two others for $50, but Fresno County Sheriff’s Department add that details of his story were very vague.
