FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Plagued by record-low turnout in recent elections, the Golden State has been exploring every method possible to attract voters.
One move was online voting registration, which appears to be working.
Secretary of State Alex Padilla says of the more than 562,200 Californians who registered online between January and March, more than a third are between the ages of 17 and 25.
Officials are expecting a surge in voter participating during the June primary. The rise of political outsiders in the race of the White House, is likely to boost the youth vote as well.
