(KMJ) Fresno – The Fresno County District Attorney will be prosecuting a 17 year old boy arrested in a hate crime as an adult.
On Tuesday, March 29th, the Fresno Police Department and DA Lisa Smittcamp announced that two suspects were arrested for mowing down 68 year-old Amrick Singh with their car, the day after Christmas in 2015.
DA Smittcamp will be prosecuting the 17 year-old driver Alexis Mendoza – as an adult.
Both Mendoza, and 22 year-old Daniel Coronel Wilson have been charged with felony counts of Assault by Means Likely to Produce Great Bodily Injury, as well as allegations that the crimes committed were “hate crimes,” that the victim is over 65, and suffered Great Bodily Injury.
MEndoza will also be charged with a felony count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon – for driving the car.
He faces up to 13 years in custody if convicted.
Wilson faces a maximum of 8 years behind bars.
Both will be arraigned in Department 30 of the Fresno County Superior Court on Friday, April 1, 2016, at 8:30 a.m.
