(KMJ) Expect a heated debate on the floor of the state Assembly Thursday when lawmakers take up a bill that would hike California’s minimum wage to $15 an hour by the year 2022.
On Wednesday, the legislation (Senate Bill 3) passed the Assembly Appropriations Committee.
Coincidentally, also released Wednesday, a report from the Calif. Legislative Analyst that says hiking the minimum wage would eventually cost California taxpayers an additional $3.6-billion dollars a year in higher pay for government employees. Supporters, however, say the raises would lift millions of Californians out of poverty.
