FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The average U.S. household pays more than $5,700 a year in federal income taxes, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

At the state and local levels, rates vary significantly, depending on where you live.

According to WalletHub, that’s the 8th-lowest rate in the nation.

In its latest study, the Golden State ranks 11th when it comes to income tax rates, 17th for real-estate, 27th for vehicle property, and 30th, when it comes to sales and excise taxes.
