FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Democratic Assemblywoman Cristina Garcia has introduced her plan to reinstate sales tax on candy.

Californians voted to exempt candy, snack foods, and bottled water from sales tax, back in 1992.

Garcia’s proposed constitutional amendment would need two-thirds of the legislature’s support, and the approval of voters.

She’s hoping for the 2018 ballot.
