CLOVIS (KMJ) — Rangers at Sierra National Forest want your help to build a new trail.
The project is entitled ‘The San Joaquin River Trail’, and to those who know Sierra National Forest it would connect the east and west sides of the area together.
It would stretch from Devil’s Postpile to the east, to Fresno’s Woodward Park on the west and incorporate two existing trails: the ‘French Trail’ and the ‘Horseshoe Bend’ trail.
There’s already 2.5 miles of it built, and now Forest Rangers want volunteer’s help to construct the remaining 5 miles.
“It’s a trail that people have already tried to walk but we’re just trying to clean it up and make it official”, says the Forest Service’s Iveth Hernandez.
She adds that interested parties need to contact a ‘Chad Drew’, at the Bass Lake Ranger District, as he’s the one organizing the build.
“His phone number is (559) 877-2218, extension 3209, and he can be contacted Monday through Friday”.
She warns that it’s going to be tough work, and volunteers need to provide their own food supplies, hiking boots, water, and sun protection.
