(KMJ) -The furry victims of a honey oil fire in Fresno getting attention.
The two cats,,were burned in the fire on Tuesday, March 9, 2016.
They are getting attention on social media as KMJ’s Ray Appleton found out – with a strong response to the photo he posted on Facebook.
The cats are recovering with VMS Veterinarian, Dr. Carrie Strickland.
Ray: “We talking 2nd or 3rd degrees burns of both?”
Dr. Carrie Strickland: “Most of the damage is around the face.”
Dr. Strickland has a good prognosis: “They are doing good…. You know, they are not only going to heal but thrive, they are gong to find very good homes after this, the SPCA is going to continue their care and find them the best home possible.”
The DA will be filing animal cruelty charges against Erik Anthony Gregg – the man accused of starting the fire.
Ray Appleton: “This is a “tame” picture. This young lady, heavily sedated, is the victim of a meth lab explosion. Do not know if she can be saved yet. She is not feral. She is actually a pet of the lab’s “owner” but she did not deserve this. I may need to put out the call again…it might take the better part of $2k to put her back together. Prayers please….prayers.
