FRESNO (KMJ) — A summer program aims to get the youth of Fresno County some very helpful workplace experience.
Now in its fifth year, The Boys & Girls’ Club’s partnership with PG&E is hoping to give 300 young adults pre-employment training, and 100 of them a paid summer internship.
“It’s taught them work”, says Boys and Girls’ Club Board Chairman Duane Oswald of 2015’s group. “It’s taught them how to work, how to interview for a job, what the expectations are for employers, and gave them some insights into their own being – their own self worth”.
The deadline to sign up for pre-employment activities is Friday, March 11th, and the program itself begins Monday, March 14th.
This year, PG&E will invest more than $360,000 in the Empowering Youth through Employment program in Fresno County, supporting youth at 11 Boys & Girls Clubs: 7 clubs in the City of Fresno, and 4 in the rural communities with Clubs in Orange Cove, Firebaugh, Reedley and Sanger.
