(KMJ) Several hundred people gathered on Fulton Mall Thursday afternoon to see step one of transforming the pedestrian mall back into Fulton Street.
It will take about one year to complete the ambitious project which will see the return of vehicle traffic to the area for the first time in more than half a century.

Mayor Swearengin helped lock in a $16 million federal grant to help offset the total estimated $20 million price tag.
