MERCED (KMJ) — An Amtrak service from Merced to Bakersfield has been shot at by what’s suspected to be a pellet gun.
The incident took place Monday morning. The train had left Merced heading south, and around 10am the windows were hit by a series of shots.
“So this was an Amtrak San Joaquin train number 702”, says Amtrak’s Vernae Graham.
“As it was departing Merced at around 10 o’clock this morning, allegedly it might have been a pellet gun we’re not quite sure, a total of four windows were damaged”.
“Spiderweb crack on the upper level of the train but no injuries to the passenger or crew”.

There was also no delay to the passengers on board, and the service stayed on schedule.”I think they probably slowed down or stopped, but the train continued on”.
The incident remains under investigation.
