(KMJ) One of KMJ’s favorite guests (and soundbites) Captain Clay Higgins turned in his badge and gun Monday morning.
Higgins, who became a viral sensation as the no-nonsense spokesman for the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office (Louisiana), resigned after an outcry from critics.
Known as the “Cajun John Wayne”, Higgins broadcast the announcement on his Facebook page from the steps of the local courthouse.

Higgins announcement came after controversy erupted over a recent video (seen below via KATC TV) he made regarding the search for several members of an area street gang.
The St. Landry Sheriff’s Department received complaints from the ACLU and other organizations after his latest video hit the web.
