FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — With the forecast calling for more heavy rains, the State of California is hoping that drivers will take steps to combat stormwater pollution.
Improperly maintained vehicles are key source of such pollution.
Check your car for fluid leaks, such as oil, coolant, and transmission fluid.
Another problem is under-inflated tires, which lead to reduced fuel efficiency, and an increased risk of a blowout, potentially sending metal particles into storm drains.
Keeping your ride shinny isn’t just cool. Dirt and brake dust can wash off onto the highway when it rains.
Take your vehicle to the car wash, where it’ll be taken off and the water will be recycled.
