FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Children with ADHD, who are excessively criticized by their parents, are less likely to have reduced symptoms by the time they reach their teens.

According to a study published in the Journal of Abnormal Psychology, kids whose families express high levels criticism, fail to experience the usual decline which happens with age.

However, the evidence isn’t solid.

Researchers say interventions to reduce parental criticism could lead to a reduction in symptoms; but, other efforts to improve the symptoms could lead to a reduction in criticism.
