FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The average age of first-time mothers is at an all-time high in the U.S., now at 26 years years, 4 months.
The CDC says the change can be attributed primarily to a major decline in teen pregnancies.
The government began tracking the ages of new mothers back in 1970, when the average was only 21.
More women are staying in school longer, going into the work force, and waiting to get married.
